For one day in Singapore from Changi, plan a visit to central Singapore around Marina Bay and Gardens by the Bay. A Singapore metro map can help you plan your MRT journey, while opening hours and ticket choices determine how much time to set aside for the Gardens.

  • Start: Singapore city centre is about a 39-minute drive from Village Changi, a hotel in Singapore.
  • Outdoor Gardens: Open daily from 5:00am to 2:00am.
  • Train hours: Trains operate from 5:30am to around midnight daily.
  • Attractions: The conservatories and OCBC Skyway have separate hours, admissions and maintenance closures.

Start with the route into central Singapore

The MRT can help you plan the trip into central Singapore, but check the route and station connections for your particular starting point before setting out. The Land Transport Authority says trains operate from 5:30am to around midnight daily; hours are usually extended during festive periods.

Adult-fare passengers can pay for train and bus rides with contactless American Express, Mastercard or Visa bank cards, mobile wallets, or NETS Tap contactless bank cards. Single-trip tickets were phased out in March 2022. For a broader overview of Singapore public transport, fares and practical tips, factor in how you plan to pay as well as the route.

Build the day around the places you want to visit, then check train information for your journey. The Land Transport Authority advises checking operator information for changes.

Morning around Marina Bay

Morning around Marina Bay

Marina Bay and Merlion Park make a natural first stop for a central Singapore day, before you set aside time for Gardens by the Bay. Keep this part of the plan flexible: the facts here establish the places to combine, but not a route or walking time between them.

After your time around the waterfront, move on to the Gardens and choose between the outdoor grounds, ticketed attractions or both. Checking the attractions’ hours before you commit to a sequence helps you avoid planning around a closure.

Gardens by the Bay time plan

Gardens by the Bay time plan

Gardens by the Bay’s outdoor gardens, including Supertree Grove, are open daily from 5:00am to 2:00am, so you can plan the outdoor portion separately from the ticketed attractions. The outdoor areas include Serene Garden, Supertree Grove, Sun Pavilion, Heritage Gardens, World of Plants, Dragonfly Lake and Kingfisher Lake.

For a shorter visit, the OCBC Skyway is a 128m-long aerial walkway between two Supertrees, 22m above ground; its recommended visit duration is 15 minutes. It is open daily from 9:00am to 9:00pm, with last admission at 8:30pm. Admission may be suspended during inclement weather.

Cloud Forest and Flower Dome are both open daily from 9:00am to 9:00pm. Last admission is 8:00pm for Cloud Forest and 8:30pm for Flower Dome. Each closes once a month for maintenance. Floral Fantasy is open daily from 10:00am to 9:00pm, with last admission at 8:30pm, and also closes once a month for maintenance.

For non-residents, admission to Flower Dome and Cloud Forest featuring Jurassic World: The Experience is S$46 per adult and S$32 per child aged 3–12. For Singapore residents, admission is S$34 per adult, S$29 per senior aged 60 and above, and S$26 per child aged 3–12.

OCBC Skyway admission is S$14 per non-resident adult and S$10 per non-resident child aged 3–12; for Singapore residents, it is S$10 per adult, S$7 per senior aged 60 and above, and S$7 per child aged 3–12.

For visitors who have already purchased tickets, a time slot is no longer required; present the original ticket at the attraction entrance.

The Gardens’ shuttle runs between Bayfront MRT Exit B, Active Garden and Flower Dome, daily from 9:00am to 9:00pm, with the last ride at 8:45pm. Service intervals are given as 10–20 minutes, so check the official site before you go.

Lunch and an afternoon choice

Lunch and an afternoon choice

Use lunch as a pause between the Marina Bay waterfront and your afternoon at Gardens by the Bay. Lau Pa Sat is a central Singapore food-hall landmark to consider for this break; no opening hours or travel time are included here, so check its details when planning your day.

For the afternoon, choose the outdoor gardens if you want an open-ended visit, or add one of the ticketed attractions if its hours and admission suit your plan.

The OCBC Skyway’s recommended visit duration is 15 minutes, while the conservatories have their own last-admission times. Wheelchair rental is available for S$2 per day at the Arrival Gift Shop, The Canopy Ticketing Counter and Floral Fantasy Ticketing Counter; wheelchairs must be returned by 8:30pm.

Return journey to Changi

Leave time to get back to Changi and check the train operator’s information for your return journey, particularly if your plans run close to the usual service hours.

If you have extra time around the airport, Jewel Changi Airport’s attractions and visit planning can help you decide whether to add an airport visit. Keep it separate from the central-city itinerary so you can judge how much time you have for each.
