Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve is a 202-hectare nature reserve in Singapore and an ASEAN Heritage Park, with easy trails through mangroves, ponds and other wetland habitats. From the Visitor Centre, you can choose a short boardwalk or a longer route, then check access details before setting out.

  • Trail choices: Routes range from a 300m forest walk to a 3km Mangrove Boardwalk option.
  • Admission: Self-guided walks and guided tours are free; guided tours require registration.
  • Arrival: Bus 925 or 925M connects Kranji MRT station with the reserve on different days.
What to see in the reserve

What to see in the reserve

Sungei Buloh’s wetlands and trails offer a close look at Singapore’s mangrove and coastal habitats. The reserve first opened as a Nature Park in 1993, and its landscape includes freshwater ponds, mudflats and mangroves. For another Singapore nature walk, Tampines Eco Green’s trails, habitats and visitor access offer a different setting to consider.

For a route focused on birdlife, the Migratory Bird Trail is an easy 1.95km walk. Migratory birds may be seen along it from August to April, though wildlife sightings can vary.

If you want to cover several habitats on one walk, the Coastal Trail is an easy 1.3km route through freshwater ponds, mudflats and mangroves. The Forest Trail is a shorter option: its easy 300m walk leads to the 150m-long Mid-canopy Walk.

Choosing a trail and visitor area

Choosing a trail and visitor area

The reserve’s easy routes vary in length, so you can choose between a brief forest walk and a longer circuit along the mangroves. The Mangrove Boardwalk has route options of 500m or 3km.

Junior Wetland is near the Visitor Centre. Children below 13 must be supervised by adults there, which makes it a useful area to factor into your route if you are visiting with children.

NParks offers free self-guided walks as well as free guided tours. You need to register for a guided tour; the English tour pattern and capacity are outlined in the access note below.
