Airport-to-hotel route options

Airport-to-hotel route options

You can travel from Changi Airport to the hotel by taxi, app-booked private-hire car, concierge-arranged car or public transport. For a direct trip after landing, a taxi or car booking avoids the need to change between rail services; the MRT route involves a transfer, and you’ll need to plan the onward leg separately.

For an airport-to-city rail journey, take the train from Changi Airport MRT Station to Tanah Merah, then transfer to the East West Line toward Tuas Link. An alternative route goes via Expo and the Downtown Line toward Bukit Panjang. These are airport-to-city routes, so check how to continue to Changi Village before choosing rail for the full hotel transfer.

If you’re weighing rail against buses for the wider journey, the Singapore public transport guide covers routes, fares and practical tips.

Taxis and private-hire cars are available from all terminals at any hour, according to Changi Airport. Official taxis are metered, with stands in the Arrival areas of Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 4. Follow the terminal’s taxi signs when you reach arrivals.

Airport taxi surcharges vary by time. Trips starting at the airport carry a surcharge of S$8 from 5:00 PM to 11:59 PM daily, or S$6 at other times. A midnight surcharge of 50% of the final metered fare applies from 12:00 AM to 5:59 AM.

Peak-hour surcharges of 25% apply during specified morning and evening periods on weekdays, weekends and public holidays. The airport also notes that flag-down, distance and waiting charges vary by taxi company.

For a sense of how taxi fares are calculated, Changi Airport estimates a ride to the city at about 30 minutes and S$25–S$45; that estimate is for the city, not a quoted fare to the hotel. Check the official site before you go for current taxi information and charges.

You can book a private-hire car through the mobile apps for Grab, Gojek, Zig, Tada Mobility, Ryde or Geolah. Pickup locations depend on the terminal: Terminal 1 uses Basement 1, Terminal 2 Level 1, Terminal 3 Basement 1 and Terminal 4 Level 1. Follow the app and airport directions to the designated doors for your terminal.

The MRT station connects directly to Terminals 2 and 3. From Changi Airport MRT Station, the route to Tanah Merah connects with the East West Line toward Tuas Link; another airport-to-city option transfers at Expo to the Downtown Line toward Bukit Panjang.

Train services have first- and last-train times, and most public bus and MRT services do not run throughout the night. Check the airport’s operating information and the hours of any bus service you plan to use before setting out, especially for a late arrival or early departure.

Jewel Changi Airport is also part of airport visit planning; its attractions and access guide can help you consider a stop there around your flight.

Choose your transfer after you know which terminal you’ll arrive at and when you land. If you’re taking a taxi, head for the Arrival-area stand; for a ride-hail pickup, use the terminal-specific location shown by the airport and your app. For rail, confirm that the MRT and any connecting bus service will be operating at your arrival time.

The Ground Transport Concierge operates 24 hours a day. It lists a 4-seater vehicle at S$70 per trip and a 6-seater at S$75 per trip to any Singapore destination, with one drop-off location.

You can book in advance through the Changi App or at a concierge counter. Counters are at Terminal 1 Arrival Pick-up, Basement; Terminal 2 Arrival Hall, Level 1, Door 6; and the Terminal 3 and 4 Arrival Halls, Level 1, next to the information counter.

If you’re arranging a concierge car, allow time to find the counter or confirm your advance booking. For any transfer, leave room for the airport-to-hotel journey before making plans around your check-in.
